How It Works
We focus on one thing - collecting clean plastic bottles during Ramadan and ensuring they are properly recycled.
The Process in 3 Steps
1 - Separate
After finishing your drink, empty the bottle and place it in the designated EcoRamadan bin.
2 - Collect
Volunteers sort and consolidate clean PET bottles nightly to prevent contamination.
3 - Recycle
Bottles are transferred to verified recycling partners for proper processing.

Why PET Bottles Only?
This isn't random. It's a deliberate choice for maximum impact.
Strong Recycling Streams
PET (#1) has established recycling infrastructure in Singapore with high recovery rates.
High Volume During Iftar
Drink bottles are the most common single-use item during Ramadan gatherings.
Lightweight & Efficient
Easy to collect, transport, and process without contamination from food waste.
By focusing on one material type, we ensure zero food contamination and maximum recycling efficiency. This makes the initiative thought through, not experimental.

Operational Notes
Recycling bins will be placed at fixed locations within the masjid compound. Exact locations will be confirmed closer to the start of Ramadan.
*Collected bottles will be disposed of through Singapore's existing recycling infrastructure. Phase 1 focuses on proper segregation and contamination reduction.
Standard Guideline
- Clear drink bottles
- Water / soft drink bottles
- Food containers
- Cups with leftovers
Why This Is a Pilot
This Ramadan, we are starting small — focusing only on PET plastic bottles. If the community response is strong and operations remain manageable, future pilots may explore other waste streams.
- Starting small to ensure smooth operations
- Collecting data on contamination rates
- Building trust with masjid management
What We Are Not
- Not a commercial recycling programme
- Not a large-scale waste solution
- Not tracking personal data or pledges
